Post-Launch / Final Demo


 Howdy!

I didn’t expect this game to be as popular on its first launch as it was! I felt like there was the right audience for this game out there, like a niche waiting to be filled, and I’m always happy to be proven right. Thank you to everyone who played, shared, and you who’s reading this now!

This is the definition of a passion project. I’ve wanted to make player-centered hypnosis games for a while, and this is the first time I was able to hold enough dedication to make the full game! (I actually have a couple prototypes I may show off at some point, but if I do, be warned they’re… prototypes. And most of them don’t have awakeners. And I really don’t feel like going back and fixing that.)

Also, I said it on twitter and I’ll said it again later in this update, THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone that donated! The game will always be totally free, but my budget is literally just “my free time,” and it feels great to have something to show for all the work I’m putting into it.

Anyway, now to talk about other things.

WHAT THE HELL IS "FINAL DEMO?"

There's not a lot added in this update. Just some quality of life stuff, minor bug fixes, fullscreen switching, dialogue backup, etc. This stuff is also still in development, and could work different in the next version.

Also, a content warnings page in the zip! Kindly and generously suggested by GlowyFox. Consent and clarity are at the TOP of my list, so I want to make sure everyone is comfortable with the game, if they choose to play it. There's a lot of weird and nasty stuff with this kink, and a lot of that stuff is both not my style and against my core beliefs. In the next build, I'll have more reinforcements in-game about YOU being able to decide if something in the game affects you, and I'll keep the content warning page updated as the game continues. If anyone has ideas about how to improve this idea, please let me know!

NEXT UPDATE?

My current plan is to have the next update up two weeks from launch, specifically Friday, June 5. I got the launch version done a day early, so it’s possible I’m giving myself too much time. If it gets out early, then it’ll be early! But my goal is June 5.

On the docket, the new build will have 5 inductions for each of my 4 planned characters, along with an introduction and awakener for each one. I’ll also finally implement audio, which I have specific plans for, but of course those plans mean I also need to produce songs for the game (Remember how people told you, “hey don’t do X and Y and Z, that’s too much?” I never listened to those people). Basically there’ll be a mix of binaural and ambient music that will (hopefully) fade together smoothly. And, of course, a dozen feature changes, improvements, and countless bug fixes. If you have any specific requests or ideas for the next build that you don’t see included here, let me know!

And now, to talk about things in the more distant future…

ART

I really want to get a professional artist on board for this game. All the art so far has been my own, and it’s serviceable, but not as good as I want it to be. The main problem is my current budget isn’t enough to pay an artist what I think is a fair amount. (on a personal note, I lost my jobs from the pandemic, and I may be able to get one back fairly soon, but as a college student, money isn’t something I’m as swimming in as I’d like to be, anyway.)

Basically, I have plans to get an artist on board, but that can’t happen until either A) I get another source of money to pay them fairly, or B) I find someone who’s willing to do it for basically too-little money.

(Money isn’t a big worry in my general life, by the way, don’t worry too much about me! It’s much more a matter of paying for more than necessities. And again an INCREDIBLE thank you to those who donated! I genuinely didn’t expect a single penny, and I’m blessed and honored by each and every one of you!)

GUEST ‘TISTS

One thing a couple people have brought up is the idea of inviting “guest” hypnotists in the game. Little do they know, that’s been the plan all along! I have a couple specific people in mind who I was planning on asking if they’d be interested after the next version is out. Of course, if you yourself or you know anyone that could be interested, feel free to reach out to me first! Something tells me I’ll have a hard time turning them down…

would be nice once you go through the entire game to have a scene selection to go back for example go back to the spiral for 5 minute section instead of having to redo whole game
