Love the game! Love the characters! Love the world building! Love everything! I hope there's much much more, and I'd love to support projects like this! <3
I have found a potential bug; when you get to the part where you tell Dillon to split up or stay together, provided you save Cass, it seems telling him to split up still keeps him with you like you said to stay together.
You said this was a demo? Please tell me more is planned! This is so good!
Just wondering if cheats exist or will be implemented. - sincerely, someone who sucks at these types of games :3
The characters being so talkative and having so many dialogue variations make this very replayable, it's Great! The game being so short works to this advantage too. I like rerunning through the game and just changing who's hypnotized or not or if Scott has the HUD virus. since I just imagine different endings like Dillon taking over as the leader if Scott and Cass are hypnotized when you defeat Woolbrain. Keep up the amazing work!
This is really charming! I like the way the HUD virus and the satellites kind of push you into each other to make it more likely you'll get to see the effects naturally. I love the ship design sprite, it's a got a great silhouette and the blaster animation is very fun!
I think hitboxes could benefit from some adjustment. The bomb hitboxes definitely linger a little long also, I think they really only need to be active during the flash. Personally, I would also shrink the player's hurtbox to be fully contained within the sprite so that bullets don't hit you when they look like they missed.
It would make dodging bullets easier most certainly, but I already like how the enemy and bullet patterns aren't particularly challenging unless you're dealing with a debuff. So leaning into that by making the debuffs harder to avoid, and the bullets easier to avoid might be an interesting route to take if you're planning more in the future. Plus the debuffs are more fun to look at.
I do think the gun debuff is mostly just annoying compared to the others, which are a fun challenge. A debuff that makes your hurtbox bigger by adding "wool" to your ship could be interesting though. Maybe even accompanied with a temporary sheep TF on Scott's portrait for a fun visual!
Really fun game, cool gimmick.
Was sort of hoping for an automatic gameover once you reach the woolbrain encounters with the mind control up. Maybe with a special ending too, hehe. But in general, super solid. Maybe a bit on the easy side altogether :P
Pretty impressed so far, left me hanging for more tbh. Characters are well-defined through their dialog and actions, having to deal with multiple things at once keeps you engaged, the hypnosis aspect is *mwah* perfect for this type of setting, it all fits. The only thing missing was really some kind of "deepened" state where if you're kept in trance for long enough either a whole different level or section plays out, regardless of your teammates' status. Alternatively, having something branching out if you do/don't rescue them would also be a big opportunity, basically the same as Star Fox since it's inspired by it anyways.
If anything, what I'm left wondering is how much else is planned considering how basic the gameplay loop is. Just curious!
Best wishes to the team!
Super hot concept, I'd love to see more. I love that getting hypnotized is not an instant lose. Would be cool to see some permanent consequences if you do not clear the hypnosis, like a gradual corruption while still being able to progress the game, and suffer its consequences. I just enjoy slow burn corruption stuff like that.
The characters are cute and likeable as well, I enjoyed the sprites and trying to find all the hypnotized dialogues
Absolute banger of a demo, super excited to see more content hopefully. Possibly multiple levels, a variety of villains and hypno methods, and some new enemies/attack patterns? There is a ton of design space here and y'all knocked it out of the park. Anything from here on out is gravy.
LOVE this, you guys absolutely knocked the "Starfox with hypno" concept out of the park here :) As someone else mentioned, I distinctly remember feeling funny when my ship would get captured/commandeered in Galaga, and so playing this is such a fun exploration of that exciting feeling of having control taken away.
First, I wanna applaud you guys for just making a fun game in general! The foundation of the game is a really competently-executed homage to Starfox/Galaga-type fixed shooters, with fun core gameplay and cute, well-written/illustrated characters. And then when it all takes a turn... @.@
The kink aspect is SO cleanly woven into the core gameplay. I absolutely love seeing your little character portrait's expression change (as well as that of your friends), as well as the way that the "punishment" for getting zonked/hacked imposes a handicap but still allows for the slowly-slimming possibility of playing through it. Really evokes that feeling of gradually losing control, and finally that lovely swoop of dread/acceptance when you realize, too late, that you've already lost.
Super excited to see where this project goes, but what you've already got here is a real gem. Thanks so much to all the devs!!
great game! thought its admittedly a little bit tricky for me to see all the dialogue since things can get out of hand easily, are there any cheats for like, unlimited health and whatnot?
Saaaame, it's kind of tough to see all the chatter normally, with how hectic the game can be; I hope there's some form of dialogue gallery in future demos/the full game.
At the very least, maybe some way to disable darkening on pause so dialogue can be seen and screencapped "fully"? That, or maybe letting you go step-by-step for the mid-enemy dialogue so it can be properly read.
Amazing game I can’t wait for more levels and game overs love the hypnosis can’t wait to see more
Great game! I loved all of the hypno content, and it was easy and intuitive enough that I could beat it without using any countermeasures. I can't wait for what else may come in future updates.
If you were to add anything new to this (excluding more levels which I know will come eventually), I'd like to see a secret ending where: if you're tranced and all your team is sheep-ified but you still beat Dr. Woolhead while under, then there's a scene where Scott slowly morphs into a sheep while announcing "mission accomplished," the whole team announces their loyalty to Woolhead, then they let her go free/retrieve her from her crash site and we get an bad-end version of the win screen.
If you're down to use my ideas for the scenario/image I'm imagining: 1) a shot of all of them in the processing center, 2) them flying off into space as her personal zonked squadron, with maybe an internal shot of at least Scott's ship showing him zonked by pop-ups on the monitors, or 3) a bad end version of the existing win screen, with Woolhead there hypno-domming them.
I do understand you're focus is on adding more to the game, so ignore this if it would take time away from developing new content.
I love that there's variations on the dialogues on various scenarios, which caused me to play it again and again for a while, hot game
Really hot.
thank you!
This is awesome. Wish I dind't suck at these sorts of games so I could see more of it, but sadly I'm awful, lmao.
Really enjoyed this! The hypno-related interactivity was really good! One thing I would've liked was more randomness and hypno-related enemies. The boss fights would've also been amazing if more enemies kept spawning or if hypnoed teammates could be a hindrance.
Would love to see where this goes, if it continues!
got to say I love what you got so far and i'm looking forward to more levels and game overs. ^v^
I'm on windows 7 and it keeps giving me the error 0xc0000005 and "The application was unable to start correctly"
Unfortunately we can't guarantee development for Windows 7! We tested this on Windows 10, 11, and a couple versions of Linux.
It could be a driver issue, or it could be that the game just won't load on an older OS. This may be fixed if we're able to get a web version of the game. Apologies!
Are there any plans to build this for MacOS? I've seen nothing but praise for this game and really want to try it out, but can't run it :(
We'll see what we can do with the next bugfix release!! Building for mac without a mac is difficult in many engines, but to be honest, I have not tried it yet in Godot. It may be easier than I expect!
Failing that, we may make a web build for this game, too!
Thank you so much for the effort, hope I can try it soon!
Super fun and cute, would love to see more combinations of outcomes for the different members getting zonked, but the mechanics are silly and fun and the characters are all great~
Very good! Only wish I could skip the tutorial section on subsequent playthroughs, otherwise this is fantastic!
Happy to know that I'm probably not the only one that felt weird during that part in Galaga where your ship gets captured by the enemy and now they're on the other side of the screen.
I want to see the hypno'd pilots as optional mini-bosses, or maybe they assist the enemy with extra bullets and whatnot.
I love the game, the hypnosis content is on point, the popups are fun and the most difficult obstacle (which is a good thing) and i love how there is alternative dialog for who gets hypnotized and who doesn't. Also i managed to beat the entire game while hypnotized, sadly the ending doesn't chang but it was very fun to see everyone submit and the added challenge was hard yet fair
I would love to see these characters in more hypnotic scenarios like this, i hope eventually there are more missions
Honestly, there should be some kind of secret ending for beating the game hypnotized and letting all your teammates get sheep-ified.
Lovely game, I just have a small issue, pressing either option in the second choice dialogue gives the same result either way
Are there speed options? I don't know why but on my computer a light press of the wasd keys sends the ship completely across the map.
Love the art and the writing, and the gameplay is simple but satisfying. This genre and kink pairing feels very clever. For spoiler reasons, I won't detail all the ways the design feels very well thought out, but I could name quite a few.
It is funny to think that this and the new Star Fox game were revealed some time after the Mario Galaxy Movie brought in a Fox cameo, and none of us were the wiser as far as I could tell without watching it yet.
Nintendo wants what we have so bad that it makes them look stupid
I could feel that sentiment because I have my own beefs with Nintendo too as of recent.
Honestly I really enjoyed the fact that it really does well the evil villain trying to hypnotize you through gameplay, I like the use of the dialogues to show the state of hypnosis and how it can affect what you say and what happens to you or your teammates. really well done gameplay honestly
I'm not sure if I'm just bad or if I'm experiencing a softlock? After Scott tells everyone to split up I keep getting softlocked where my HUD and my weapons get locked out and rebooting doesn't fix them, so I just sit there and get all my lives drained in about 10 seconds
This is such a surprising bug, we've never heard of anything like this! Could you post some information about if you're playing on Linux or Windows, as well as more information about what happens before you get softlocked?
I'm on windows - I'm leaning towards this just being me doing something wrong but since it happened twice in a row maybe it's a bug?
Basically once I get to the part where you can choose to split up or not, the next fight starts with me getting my weapons locked out within the first couple seconds, and then even if you reboot your weapons system your weapons just get locked again immediately so it's not even possible to kill anything? I ended up having to mod the game to have infinite health to make it past that part [Outside of that the game is amazing!] - if you want more details I can give you them, I just need to know what specifics you're looking for
Hmmm... How many endings are there?
There is a win screen and a lose screen, for now! We wanted to focus on variety and reactivity within the level, and make it scalable for if and when we come back to make additional levels!
Would be fun to have alt routes depending on how hypnotized you've gotten.
Gods this was a great little experience, keep up the banger hypno stuff you're always making!
This was fun! Played it twice. One for like a proper all correct response and the other to see what the dialogue is like if theyre all under.
liking this very much! only complaint is that bombs have their damage hitbox stay for a moment longer than their sprite, meaning i get hit by what appears to be nothing. excited to see what you guys do with this one
Thank you so much for the bug note, this will be fixed in the next version we upload!
Good game so far hope to see more scenes
Is there any way to lower the button sensitivity on the Linux version? I can't really reliably place the ship anywhere but the extreme left and right of the field.
I had the same problem with this and another game, the way I fixed it was going into my graphics card settings and enabling global v-sync.
We think we discovered the source of this bug and it will (hopefully) be fixed in the next version uploaded!
EDIT: if anyone encounters this issue in the meantime, please try Evandill's solution below!
pretty fun!
VERY fun game~! Wonderful work by everyone!
Oh damn this is out ALREADY? Good lord! Congrats on the release!
